Sleep Apnoea Tests
At Sunshine hearing we offer a Sleep Program. WHY? Because Obstructive Sleep Apnoea remains undiagnosed among 95% of sufferers and it’s easily treatable with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy.
Could you have sleep apnoea?
Symptoms of sleep apnoea include daytime fatigue, daytime sleepiness, snoring, restlessness during the night, and feeling drowsy upon waking. Diseases associated with untreated obstructive sleep apnoea include weight gain, hypertension, heart attack, congestive heart failure, stroke, diabetes, impotence, motor vehicle accidents, depression and premature even aging.
Sleep Screening Program…
This includes a sleep screening study which involves a tiny machine taken home by the patient overnight. The tiny machine has an array of sensors that can analyse blood oxygen levels and breathing. The machine analyses whether a patient has sleep apnoea. The patient wears the machine that night and returns the machine the following day and the data is downloaded.
Sleep apnoea is a chronic breathing problem that can be helped by Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy. As sleep disorders vary from patient to patient, we offer an individualised sleep apnoea program. Often a CPAP machine is fitted to effectively treat obstructive sleep apnoea. To do this the patient is required to wear a mask which delivers therapeutic air.
